Oddany Gallery
An Artist Run Project
Oddaný Gallery: Artist-Run, Community-Led
Oddaný Gallery is an artist-run initiative founded and directed by Pearl Reilly-Murray. First opening its doors in early 2024 on Johnston Street in Collingwood, the project was born from a desire to create a devoted space for experimentation, connection, and grassroots cultural production. The name "Oddaný" — meaning "devoted" in Czech and Polish — speaks to the ethos at the heart of the project: a collective commitment to supporting emerging artists and cultivating meaningful exchange between creatives and their wider communities.
The project first took form in a double-fronted shopfront on Johnston Street, Collingwood, which functioned as both exhibition space and Pearl’s personal painting studio, separated by simple partitions. During this formative period, Oddaný was solely directed and operated by Pearl Reilly-Murray, with programming and facilitation support from artists Coco Stallman and Josh De Koster. The space offered a fluid environment for showcasing new work and testing ideas, with an open-door approach that welcomed artists and audiences into an evolving space of making and sharing. When the project relocated to its current site at 491 Sydney Road, Brunswick, Oddaný formally incorporated into a board-led artist-run initiative, with Pearl joined by Mia Lewin, Ava Leach, Coco Stallman, and Josh De Koster as core members shaping the gallery’s vision and future direction.
Since its founding, Oddaný has hosted exhibitions for over 60 emerging and early-career artists, programmed more than 20 musicians and performers, and welcomed an ongoing rhythm of life drawing nights, screenings, readings, and open studios. The gallery has become a gathering space — not just for showcasing work, but for conversation, celebration, and critical reflection. Everything presented is self-initiated, community-funded, and held together by the labour and devotion of its artist board and extended network of collaborators, friends, and supporters.
At its core, Oddaný is a living, evolving project. It resists the rigid frameworks of traditional institutions, instead operating through collective care, improvisation, and shared authorship. Oddaný continues to serve as a platform for artists working outside of commercial or institutional structures — a space where creativity, risk, and generosity are not only welcomed, but foundational.
